We built BIDShielder because brokers deserve better tools

Not better tools in the Silicon Valley sense. Better tools in the "I just want to finish this file and get home for dinner" sense.

The problem we saw

Since the Best Interests Duty came into force in January 2021, Australian mortgage brokers have been required to document why they recommended one lender over another for every single file. The intent is good. Clients deserve to know their broker is acting in their best interest.

But the execution has been painful. Most brokers spend 30 to 45 minutes per file writing compliance notes from scratch, or copying from templates that never quite fit the scenario. Multiply that by 15 to 25 files a month and you're looking at a significant chunk of time spent on admin instead of helping clients.

Some brokers use Word templates. Some use spreadsheets. Some write it longhand in their CRM notes. Almost none of them feel confident that their notes would hold up under an ASIC review.

That's the gap BIDShielder fills.

What we built

BIDShielder takes the information a broker already has — the client's situation, the lenders assessed, and the reasons behind the recommendation — and turns it into a structured, defensible advice pack.

It's not a template. It's not a chatbot. It's a purpose-built tool that understands the structure of a BID file and produces output that maps directly to what compliance teams and regulators look for: a clear comparison, documented reasoning, exclusion rationale, risk disclosure, and commission transparency.

The BID Score gives brokers a quick gut check before they lodge. It doesn't pass or fail you — it just highlights where there might be gaps, so you can fix them on your terms rather than explaining them under review.

What we stand for

Broker-first design

Every decision we make starts with the same question: does this make a broker's day easier? If the answer isn't a clear yes, we don't build it.

Compliance without compromise

We don't cut corners on compliance. BIDShielder is designed around what ASIC expects from a defensible BID file. Speed is pointless if the output doesn't hold up.

Your data, your business

We never share your client data with third parties. We don't use it for any purpose other than generating your advice packs. Your files stay yours. Full stop.

Plain English, always

Compliance doesn't need to sound like it was written by a committee. We believe in clear language that real people can understand, both in our product and in our own communication.

Who BIDShielder is for

BIDShielder is for Australian mortgage brokers and credit representatives who write BID advice as part of their everyday work. Whether you're a sole operator, a small team, or part of a larger brokerage, the tool works the same way.

You don't need to be tech-savvy. If you can fill in a form and review a document, you can use BIDShielder. We designed it for brokers who want to do the right thing by their clients and get home at a reasonable hour.
